Concept book of Robert Altman’s film ‘Short Cuts’.
“Short Cuts” is the movie about various people and their relationship who lives in the same period and the same area, LA. Nineteen characters are appeared in the movie. One character is connected with another, and another is connected with another… so I could find eventually all characters are connected one by one at the end of the movie.
I transformed this interesting character information of ‘Short Cuts’ into index book with 19 indexes.
One character has one page of his/her information with name on the index tab. Family members are bound in a same color, and white box is showing the family tree, and colored box are about people who has relationship with this page person. White box with arrow sign in it is telling the action which to go to the Bold letter person’s index and then read Italic letter person’s information.
As simply following this instruction of the book, readers can see every character in the movie are connected. And it is also the main thing in most of Artman’s movie, the diversity in narrative.
